NEWS : Crystal Castles Reschedule London Gig

The Canadian electro-punk duo are stuck in the US thanks to volcanic ash…

Those of you who were hoping to catch Ethan Kath and Alice Glass when they bring their highly unpredictable and energetic show to the UK this week will have to sit tight for just a little while longer after their Tuesday night gig at Heaven was postponed until May 19.

The pair are set to drop their new disc on 7 June and we were lucky enough to attend an advance listening session a few weeks back. An album of twists and turns layered with confusion and bathos in equal measure, the LP unites various sounds and samples that sound like they really shouldn’t go together, but somehow and somewhat amazingly do. In fact we’re sure there’s probably some clouds of volcanic ash imbedded into the music somewhere across its 14 tracks. However it seems that all of the twosome’s creativity solely went into making the record and stopped short just prior to naming it as they’ve gone with a self-titled effort… again.

Anyway, those of you who had tickets for the Heaven show will still get to see them play out their new creation as well as their critically acclaimed debut, as they will still be valid for the new date. And the rest of you who weren’t lucky enough to get hands on some tix can try and catch the Castles at either Glastonbury or Reading and Leeds this Summer.

Here’s the tracklisting for the new album:

1. Fainting Spells

2. Celestica

3. Doe Deer

4. Baptism

5. Year of Silence

6. Empathy

7. Suffocation

8. Violent Dreams

9. Vietnam

10. Birds

11. Pap Smear

12. Not In love

13. Intimate

14. I Am Made Of Chalk
