FBBB (For Boarders By Boarders just so you know) are holding a unique, bespoke two day event matching London’s finest skateboarders with the most talented young designers and fashion brands in the UK such as ASK YOUR GIRL, A.IN.T and PXL. We catch up with the brains behind two of the brands backing the boards…

Hi, firstly can you tell us a bit about yourselves…

ASKYOURGIRL: I’m Jules Zambon, 23, from Ladbroke Grove, west London and I’m the man behind the brand ASK YOUR GIRL.

A.IN.T: I’m Charlie Crockett from Art IN Transit who is a creative collective from London. I would say we are culture collectors. Piecing together everything we find eye catching or mentally stimulating and throwing it together like a producer using samples to make their beats. We sample everything from Venetian architecture to record sleeves to old shirts I have found in second hand shops; to make our collections, art prints and T-shirts.

What do you guys bring to the style table?

ASKYOURGIRL: Our garments always have a social and communicative element to them. To be worn with confidence, charm and manner.

A.IN.T: Contempery chic with a classic twist.

How long have you been in the streetwear scene and why did you get involved?

ASKYOURGIRL: I’ve been doing fashion for three years now, so I’m so new to the game in the big wide world of things. I’ve always been a hustler and always had vision and ideas of what other people like, so it kinda fell into place naturally overtime .

A.IN.T: I would say Five. First pair of Nikes. Day glow t shirt of michael angilo “teenage mutant ninja turtles” I’ve been obseesed with my attire ever since. But let’s not get it twisted. I have off days where I don’t try, and look a little scruffy. When I say scruffy.. I mean trampish. I go with the theory that dentists have bad teeth. Hair dressers have bad hair cuts. You see where this is going. So if you know me and you’ve read this and you see me on road looking.. Let’s say not 100% smooth don’t bring me out!
Where do you find inspiration from?

ASKYOURGIRL: Music, film, sports, art, youth and conversations with people.

A.IN.T: The very air I breathe! I’m joking. Ok I’m not, I’m serious. Everything is mainly films and books. And most importantly everyone else’s stuff on the blog sites. I love it because you don’t have to think, you can just copy everybody else’s stuff. I have thousands of books on clothes. My very close friend and the person I started the label with has an interest in men’s clothing far beyond the reaches of normal human beings. We look at lots of things together from past decades and regularly discuss trends past present and future. My head designer is too sick when it comes to his understanding of the rag trade and all her offspring. We can talk and look at clothes for hours. Then the classics, music, the streets etc. And for the record I love the blog sites, but can not go on them during collection building time as that stuff creeps in whether you mean it to or not.

Any new designs in the pipe-line ? What can we look forward to for the rest of 2010?

ASKYOURGIRL: Always landing new stuff and keeping it current. I’ve got the World Cup colourways out in May so make sure you look out for that. 2010 will see more growth and expansion and also solidifying my London presence.

A.IN.T: A whole heap of fresh new s**t

FBBB takes place over the bank holiday weekend of Sunday 2 & Monday 3 May @ Bay Sixty 6 & Westbourne Studios, 242 Acklam Road, London W10 5JJ

DJs on the day will include Benny Blanco, Boy Wonder, Ch!co, and Droppin’ Science DJs: Nickname, Matman and Daredevil, KMT and X-Kutz.

Performances will come from the likes of Ugly Kids Club, Two-Pence, Ventza, Darren John, London Miles, Moose & Yeti, Mr. Bletchley, The Loslo Bros, Richard Sharples and Lulu amongst others.

The Ink Lounge will also be providing a tattoo and piercing service at the event alongside live-art displays, kids workshops and an exclusive film screening as well.
