The revolving doors of the American prison system have been busier than ever this week.  First Lil Wayne went in, then T.I. came out, and now DMX and D’Angelo have joined the bar hugging hype…

DMX was arrested yesterday for violating the terms of his probation, allegedly for drug-use, following a law-breaking history which had the Sherriff who caught him commenting “We would hope that he is finally sent to prison. We’ve arrested him five times already. How many times do you have to violate the law?”

Meanwhile, D’Angelo was arrested last week for reportedly offering an undercover police officer $40 for oral sex. Earlier this week his management posted the following statement on the singers MySpace “We know there is a lot of speculation in regard to the arrest of D’Angelo in New York City this past weekend.  We would like his fans and the public at large to know that D’Angelo has pled not guilty — and is contesting the allegations made against him. Also know that, he is in good health and extremely excited about his forthcoming new album. D’Angelo would like to personally thank all of his fans for the outpouring of concern, and appreciates if all would allow the American justice system to resolve the matter before jumping to any conclusions.”

With a lifestyle most of us would give our right arm to emulate, why these rappers can’t keep on the right side of the law is beyond us. But like the saying goes, if you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime!
