War thriller takes home Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay as part of its six gong haul…

Kathryn Bigelow made history at last night’s Academy Awards ceremony by becoming the first ever female recipient of the Best Director trophy, locking out her former husband James Cameron and his $280 million movie Avatar. Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker was the biggest winner of the night picking up six awards over Avatar’s three.

Elsewhere Sandra Bullock scooped the Best Actress award, one night after picking up the Worst Actress award at the Razzies!
