NEWS : The Kaiser Chiefs Are Boring

The lads from Leeds needed to be bored to begin working on new album…

Inspiration can come from the funniest of things it seems, as hyped up front man of the Kasier Cheifs, Ricky Wilson has revealed that the band ‘needed to get bored’ to be able to rediscover their hunger for writing new music. This revelation has come after the band have been on a break following their appearance at a local Leeds Festival, with the band now planning to work on a possible follow up to their 2008 album Off With Their Heads.

While speaking to the BBC, Wilson said “After a couple of months [off] we got bored. Then I got really bored, then mind-numbingly bored and that’s when you start thinking about the fact you want to get up and do something again.”

And fair play to the boys, they know how to write a tune or two, their debut album Employment sold in excess of 3 million copies and hitting top 10 album charts around the world. Currently recording fresh material in drummer Nick Hodgson’s newly built studio, Wilson gave an update on proceedings.

“I haven’t felt this creative since we first started,” he explained. “We’re playing around at the moment, I’m sending him [Hodgson] words and lyrics in the mail. He’s sending me CDs in the mail. There’s no release date – what would be the point? It’s funny, I read on the internet people going, ‘When is the new album coming out?’ Give us a chance!”

Well I’m giving you a chance Ricky, I’m giving you a chance. Although I feel like I’m speaking for most other fans when I say the sooner the better!
