Last night’s  NME Awards saw Lady GaGa bagging a controversial double whammy of best and worst category awards…

Held at London’s O2 Academy Brixton, the 2010 leg of the annual new music awards show saw an unsurprising collection of winners. Both Muse and Kasabian took home two awards each, with Muse winning Best British Band and Best Website, and Kasabian winning Best Album and Best Album Artwork. Whilst Blur’s reunion gig at Hyde Park was named Best Live Event and Arctic Monkeys won the Best Live Band category.

Traditionally the worst awards categories have always been the more interesting part of the NME’s, and this years winners didn’t disappoint! Everyone’s favourite platinum haired loon (aka Lady GaGa) managed to bag her-crazy-self not just the Best Dressed Award for her collection of camel-toe exposing garms, but the Worst Dressed Award too.

Meanwhile, (supposedly for his Taylor Swift stage-crashing antics) Kanye managed to beat the Gallagher brothers, Simon X Factor Cowell and GaGa to the Villain of the Year award, whilst the Jonas Brothers managed to bag themselves another double whammy of awards with the Worst Album and Worst Band categories under their belts.

Other winners from the nights proceedings included:

• Rage Against The Machine with the Hero of the Year award for their Facebook led X Factor triumph
• Lily Allen with the Giving It Back Fan Award for her Twitter ticket treasure hunt
• La Roux with the Best Dancefloor Filler for the absolute banging Skream remix of In For The Kill
• And (in his own words) the “b*stard lovechild of Billy Bragg and Mike Skinner”, Jamie T with the Best Solo Artist award.
