Giggs’ 10-date tour around the UK has been cancelled due to the growing concerns of the Metropolitan Police…

Peckham’s favourite son was meant to start his tour tonight across the UK which would span to 10 dates but was has been cancelled due to consultation between promoters and police.

The Met Police said they spoke to the promoters of the London show, which was due to take place at the O2  Academy in Islington on 4 March, and claimed that there were ‘potential’ risks’ if the show went ahead. A spokesperson for the Met said “”Police advised that there were concerns about potential risk to the event, if it took place.” As soon as the London show was cancelled  all the other venues started pulling out.

Giggs responded by sarcastically thanking the police for “all this great promotion that they’re giving me. All these cancellations and that is just making me more powerful.”

The South London MC went on his twitter account (@sn1giggs) to further vent his frustration at the situation saying “just wanna thank trident for cancellin my shows, your doin a great job keep up the good work.:-).”

He then tweeted “i knw the feds are pissed i’m progressing,so if i get assassinated we all know who the culprits are.”

The Met responded saying “We routinely exchange intelligence and information with other police forces but any police decision to advise a venue about a planned event would be taken at a local level.”

Giggs single Don’t Go There (Featuring B.o.B) was released last Sunday and is available to buy on iTunes now.

  1. [...] The grime scene, and whole UK urban umbrella, is in a healthy place right about now. For years the scene has had to progress, develop and expand, against a backdrop of negativity. And perhaps some of this persecution the grime game has faced in its relatively brief and chequered history, will continue; only today UK hip hop artist Giggs had his UK tour pulled by the Met; “police said that they had met with the promoters of the London gig, set to take place at the O2 Islington Academy on March 4, and that potential risks were highlighted. The rest of the rapper’s tour was subsequently pulled.” Giggs isn’t fretting though. He doesn’t need to. Only recently signed up to the world renowned XL recordings, his debut solo single ‘Don’t Go There (Featuring B.o.B)’ was released on Sunday and is currently situated at 54th (and continually rising) in the iTunes single chart. Buy it for ONLY 79p here. Giggs is keeping positive through this latest setback, thanking the police for the promotion. [...]
