NEWS : DJ Oneman’s Rinses His Dub Debut

Written by RWD on 24 Feb 2010

Rinse FM’s DJ Oneman releases his funky-dubstep debut mixtape next week…

Following in the well-established footsteps of Supa D (UK House Mix) and Marcus Nasty (Funky Flex), the latest edition of Rinse FM underground talent comes via dubstep king, DJ Oneman, in the form of Rinse: 11.

Explaining the sound of the mix, Oneman calls it “not so much of the new dubstep stuff and not so much of the new grime stuff, but more of the funky and the wot-do-u-call-it dark house stuff”, a kind of “broken version of funky… the darker end of the scale, the dub end”.

Always at the forefront of showcasing new music, Rinse FM’s Rinse: 11 is the first CD to document the new hybrid sound of house and funky-influenced beats, decoupled in tempo from dubstep but aligned in spirit to the nu dark swing era that originated the dubstep movement.

And calling all you dubstep heads, get yourself to Plastic People (for what could sadly be the last time – see 1Xtra’s Benji B Backs Plastic People Campaign) on the first and third Thursdays of March for music brought to you by Rinse FM and FWD>> with talent including the mighty Oneman himself.
