Written by Jerry Gadiano on 10 Feb 2010

Art is always controversial and shocking whether it is the artist’s intentions or not. This is no truer than the work of Chris Ofili’s and now you have a chance to see his work which is being exhibited at the Tate Britain.

The Mancunian has received both world renowned praise and criticism for his work which has been shown in places such as The Brooklyn Museum Of Art in New York where, funnily enough, he had a lawsuit filed against him. Well this time Ofili is coming back home to the Tate Britain in South West London to show off his new exhibition Hip Hop spirit in Art, the show has been running since the 27 January and will be open until the 16 May.

As the title suggests Ofili’s has drawn inspiration from the culture and music of hip hop, looking into the likes of Public Enemy, KRS-1, Nas, Jay-Z, Eric B & Rakim, Wu-Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest and Dizzee Rascal for artistic insight.

The Great thing about this exhibition is that anyone under 26 years old can get in for £5. Don’t pass up a chance to view this great modern day artist’s exhibition cause we can guarantee you’ll regret missing it.
