Having worked with artists including Gaga and David Guetta on material for his upcoming fourth album, Akon admits he’s all about merging Euro house beats with American R&B melodies and hip-hop rhythms. And he’s not the only one…

Speaking to Associated Press, the 30 million dollar a year singer-songwriter, record producer and entrepreneur said “You’ve got some straight hardcore hip-hop guys actually moving into the dance realm. And that’s shocking. When you’ve got someone like Dr. Dre about to do a dance record … that’s crazy.”

Having dropped a bombshell like that, Mr Konvict Musik then played it down, refusing to comment any further on the Dre effort, except to say: “it actually sounds great. He played it for me. I was shocked. So I was like ‘Wow, that’s dope. When the world hears this, they might go crazy.’ … When you’ve got the two worlds mixed together, clashing, it’s going to be a monster.”

So it’s official… funky house is finally making international movements. Expect a Crazy Cousinz Bongo Jam style remix of Nuthin’ but a “G” Thing with vocals from Donaeo and skank routine choreographed by the likes of Gracious Kay, hitting dance floors nationwide later this year.

Whilst we’re pleased the good ol’ Doc is going the dance and funky route, we here at RWD Towers are still awaiting for his third and final album, Detox. I’m starting to think that the end of the world will come before we even hear that album…
