This year’s shortlist for the Shockwaves NME Awards has been announced with Arctic Monkeys and Kasabian tying for most nominations with six, with Muse racking up five (or seven if you count personal awards for lead singer Matt Bellamy, along with many others).

The awards include Best British Band, Best International Band, Best Solo Artist and Best New Artist for those more seriously into music, while the more light-hearted side offers up gongs like Worst Dressed, Hero or Villain of the Year and Worst Band.

The 23 different awards will all be given out during an event at the O2 Academy in Brixton, where last year Oasis walked away with the Best British Band and Muse took out Best Live band. Will Oasis Retain their crown? Will the Arctic Monkeys take all six awards they’re nominated for? Will Lady Gaga win worst dressed and get the hint? All will be revealed 24 February.
